Pedestrian seriously hurt after early morning crash in Newark, cops say

A pedestrian was in serious condition Friday after suffering a head injury when he was struck by a vehicle in Newark, authorities said.

The man was hit shortly before 1 a.m. near the intersection of Clifton and Park avenues, according to Catherine Adams, a city spokesperson.

The driver remained at the scene and the crash is under investigation, Adams said.

The injured man was taken to a local hospital by EMS. “The victim’s condition is reported as serious,” Adams said, adding that no further information was available early Friday.
