36-year-old man stabbed to death in Newark

A 36-year-old man was stabbed to death early Sunday in a home in Newark, authorities said.

Victorino Garcia was stabbed on the unit block of Taylor Street just after 2:30 a.m, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Garcia, of Newark, was pronounced dead less than an hour later at University Hospital. The stabbing took place as just a few people were gathered, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office said.

“It was not a party,” the spokeswoman said in an email Monday.

The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-847-7432. Calls will be kept confidential.
