Child hurt, at least 2 men shot during gunfire in Newark

A shooting Sunday afternoon in Newark left at least two men wounded by gunfire and a young child injured, authorities said.

The two shooting victims suffered non-life threatening injuries from the attack in the 200 block of 6th Avenue, according to Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose.

The child was not shot, but possibly struck by an unspecified “ricochet object” to her leg, Ambrose said.

Police responded to the gunfire around 4 p.m. Authorities did not immediately release more details.
