Who can’t appreciate a good meal for a good price? There’s nothing like ballin’ on a budget, eating like a king while spending like a pauper. And apparently the best place to do that in New Jersey is at a Bangladeshi restaurant in Jersey City.
Korai Kitchen in the city’s Journal Square neighborhood was named by Buzzfeed as the “best budget restaurant” in the state.
The article, which used Yelp reviews to make the case for every restaurant, had this to say about Korai Kitchen, noting its price range is just $11 to $30:
"Korai Kitchen is not only one of the best restaurants in NJ, but it's also one of the best restaurants I've eaten at. Nuri and her mom are true connoisseurs of the craft — creating meals, creating moments and creating memories. Expect to be served with love, and dig into a sumptuous lunch or dinner buffet bursting with flavor. The ingredients and dishes change according to the season, so there will always be some unexpected surprises and some all-time favorites."
Korai Kitchen has been garnering praise ever since The New York Times did a story on the small eatery in January, which is operated by a mother and daughter team and serves buffet-style lunch and dinner. Before that it was named the No. 1 place to eat in New Jersey in 2018 by Yelp, and then was one of two N.J. restaurants to make Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat in 2019.
