JERSEY CITY — The expected oppressive heat has postponed a number of events across the tri-state area this weekend, but in Lincoln Park, the show will go on.

The second annual Lincoln Park Carnival, co-sponsored by the Hudson County Sheriff’s superior officers and St. Aloysius Church, is scheduled Wednesday-Sunday this week and next week, through July 28, near the running track in the area of Duncan Avenue.

The event is open to the public and features rides, games and food for all. The carnival will run 6-10 p.m. Wednesday-Friday and 2-10 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

There is a $2 entrance fee for the carnival, which will feature a number of rides. The rides require tickets, which will be available for purchase at the carnival. Hudson County employees and their families will receive a discount, organizers said.

"It’s a way to get (Hudson County) employees to come out and support,” said Fraternal Order of Police Local 127 President Annette Rolon.

Rolon said she doesn’t expect the anticipated heat — the forecast calls for 100 Saturday and Sunday — to affect the carnival schedule or attendance. She said a sprinkler system at the site to help cool down people.

The proceeds of the event will go toward charities through the police union and and the church, Rolon said.
