Pedestrian killed by dump truck in Trenton

A pedestrian was struck by a dump truck in Trenton’s East Ward Thursday morning and died at the scene, city police said.

The victim, a man in his 60s, was not identified Friday as police and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office continue to investigate, police said.

Police were called to the intersection of Greenwood Avenue and Chambers Street at 10:35 a.m. The victim was pronounced dead a few minutes later by arriving medical personnel. No other information was available about the crash.

The intersection is a busy one in the city, its corners home to a pharmacy, two gas stations, and Trenton Central High School.

Trenton Police Detective Vince Mistretta is investigating.
