Shop security cameras capture gunmen chasing woman down, killing her in Trenton

A corner shop's surveillance cameras captured the moments two gunmen opened fire on a 19-year-old woman in Trenton on Tuesday afternoon.

Shaela Johnson, 19, was shot multiple times and killed on the 800 block of Stuyvesant Avenue in the West Ward.

NBC10 posted an edited version of the footage, showing two gunmen getting out of a car, and Johnson trying to escape them by fleeing inside the store.

Johnson was rushed to a city hospital, where she was pronounced dead, the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office said.

Authorities on Tuesday night said they were looking for two gunmen who opened fire on Johnson.

No arrests or charges were reported, and no other information was immediately available from authorities on Wednesday.

Mayor Reed Gusciora issued a statement Wednesday, asking anyone with information about the shooting to call authorities at 609-989-3663 or send an anonymous and confidential text message to 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S).

"We cannot end violence in our City through statements or inaction; and it cannot be done overnight," Gusciora said. "These destructive acts rise from the proliferation of guns in urban centers across this country and a lack of will to address the issue on the federal level."
