Big sharked hooked off New Jersey Shore

As the shark was reeled onto shore, the scene was caught on video by Fabiana Pons, who posted it on YouTube. This is a screen capture from the video.

The sharky season continues at the New Jersey Shore. This time, however, man beats fish.

Over the weekend, a group of fishermen casting from the beaches of Brigantine, N.J., got more than they bargained for when they hooked a big shark, as 6ABC in Philly reports.

The fishermen fought the fish, eventually reeling it in.

The epic man vs. fish battle took place Saturday around 1 p.m. along the beach just past 14th Street in Brigantine, 6ABC reports.

Crowds built to watch as the shark was reeled-in closer and closer to shore.

And as the shark was hauled onto the sand, the scene was caught on video by Fabiana Pons, who posted it on YouTube and shared the video with Action News.

The exact type of shark wasn’t mentioned in the report.

And just to show that it was nothing personal with the shark, the fishermen released the toothy swimmer back into the ocean.

Animal lovers will no doubt appreciate this kindness.

But perhaps summer swimmers will not.
