After three quiet days in the New Jersey region, rain showers and thunderstorms are expected to return late Monday night into Tuesday morning.AccuWeather

After three straight days of dry and almost-perfect summer weather, Mother Nature will be messing things up late Monday night into Tuesday morning, as a batch of rain showers and thunderstorms moves across New Jersey.

Although the thunderstorms are not expected to be as strong as the ones that hit New Jersey last week, some of them could drop enough rain to cause isolated flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

Once the rain clears out during the afternoon on Tuesday, the humidity will likely remain in place and temperatures will climb into the mid-80s to upper 80s across most of the Garden State on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Possible heat wave on tap

Forecasters from AccuWeather say the first heat wave of the year could be in store for Philadelphia and its suburbs, so the southern and western regions of New Jersey might get three straight days of 90-degree heat. (Daytime temperatures across our region in late June normally run from 83 to 85 degrees.)

If you hate the heat and humidity, just be thankful most of this work week — except for Tuesday — is expected to remain dry. Early forecasts show showers might return late Saturday or Saturday night.
