Police in New Jersey’s largest city are searching for the person they believe are behind a series of bank robberies.
Newark’s Department of Public Safety is asking for the public’s help in identifying the man, pictured above. On Saturday at 1:45 p.m., he showed up to Citi Bank at 721 Broad Street, where he allegedly showed the teller a note demanding money, authorities say. However, the man left empty handed, they reported.
Less than 10 minutes later, the same man was captured on camera at the Chase Bank a few doors down. He was able to get away with $1,000, authorities say.
The man is described as being between 5′2″ and 5′6″ and between 130 to 150 pounds. He has a brown/orange beard. He was seen wearing a grey hoodie, grey jeans, a black and white flannel-pattern scarf and black and white sneakers.
The Department of Public Safety is asking anyone with information to call 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477) or 1-877-NWK-GUNS (1-877-695-4867). Calls made to these numbers are anonymous.
