Southbound truck lanes on the New Jersey Turnpike were shut down for cleanup Tuesday morning due to a crash involving multiple trucks.
The accident occurred on the southbound outer roadway near Exit 11 in Woodbridge around 4:48 a.m. when the driver of a roll-off truck heading south on the ramp from the Thomas Edison Service Area lost control of the vehicle, state police said.
The truck entered the shoulder, where it struck a parked tractor-trailer, police said. The roll-off truck then overturned and continued into the outer roadway, striking a box truck and a double tractor-trailer that also both overturned.
The driver of the roll-off truck was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The outer road was closed for about four hours for the cleanup.
