Burlington opens its second Paramus location

Paramus officially has its second Burlington store.

The retailer, which opened its doors at the Outlets at Bergen Town Center earlier this month, is having its grand opening celebration this weekend.

The 36,900-square-foot shop is the retailer's 32nd outpost in the Garden State, and features a new store design that is easier to navigate than its traditional stores, the company said in May. The company has plans for at least five more new stores in New Jersey, and dozens more nationwide.

The off-price retailer, long referred to as Burlington Coat Factory, sells clothing, home decor, baby items and more. It also carries what it describes as the "largest selection of coats in the nation."

Burlington is on a store-opening spree, with plans for 55 new stores to open between August and November, according to the company's website.

On Friday, Burlington will be celebrating five other grand openings, in addition to the new  Paramus store. Other locations are slated to open in Texas, Nebraska, Florida and Pennsylvania that day.

The retailer also plans new stores in Princeton, Mays Landing, Union, Hazlet and Toms River in coming months. The retailer's first Paramus store is on Route 17.

The Burlington department store inside the Outlets at Bergen Town Center is occupying space that was previously used by a chapel inside the mall. The chapel, which had been run by the Carmelite order of priests since it opened in 1970, left the mall for good in February 2017.

The mall has undergone extensive renovations over the past year, with Burlington as one of its newest tenants.
