Real Housewives of New Jersey: Danielle Staub divorced after nine months

It’s official, “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Danielle Staub and her husband, Marty Caffrey, have split for good.

The brisk nine-month marriage ended with the slam of a gavel in Hackensack on Thursday as divorce attorneys agreed that the couple “experienced certain differences” and there was no chance for reconciliation.

Outside the courtroom, there was no love lost from Staub, whose rocky marriage with Caffrey was marred by accusations of domestic violence, which were later dismissed.

“I’m elated,” she said. “The sooner I get rid of him and out of my life completely, the better.”

Caffrey, however, said he wished Staub well and hoped they could remain cordial.

“We went into it with good intentions and good feelings,” he said. “It’s bittersweet, but more on the bitter part that we ended up this way.”

The pair is still living together in Caffrey's $2 million home in Englewood, which is for sale. They will vacate once there is a buyer, according to Caffrey. But Staub hinted that she'll open her checkbook.

“The house will be mine,” she said.

Staub and Caffrey’s ill-fated relationship began with a few dates in 2016. They went on to exchange vows at a lavish wedding in the Bahamas last May that was televised for the Bravo series.

In August, three months after the wedding, they announced their intent to split after Staub, 56, filed a temporary restraining order against Caffrey, 66, following an alleged altercation at her home.

The two gave different accounts on what ultimately led to the relationship’s demise.

For Staub, she claimed Caffrey wanted his “15 minutes of fame” and used her for air time.

“He insisted that the wedding go forward on TV, which I was against,’ Staub said. “He begged for reconciliation. He would do anything to get back together with me but I said, 'No thanks,' ”

But Caffrey, a retired investment banker, said Staub adopted a diva attitude when she returned to the show to film a ninth season in March. Some of the arguments and attitudes from the series began to spill into their off-screen relationship, he said.

“There was a change in her behavior, how she would treat me and other people,” Caffrey said. “The show broke us up. It’s a shame.”

Staub, of Wayne, was an original member of the show but left after season two. She rejoined the cast for a ninth season in October and soon reclaimed her role as an agitator among the other wives.

Tensions came to a head in the season nine finale earlier this month. During a party at Jennifer Aydin’s Paramus home, a fight ensued between Caffrey, cast member Margaret Josephs and her husband, Joe Benigno, who threw Caffrey into a swimming pool.

On Thursday, Caffrey sat at a table outside the court and adjusted his Breitling watch, the same one that was nearly soaked in Aydin's pool. He managed to raise him arm above water at the last second, he said.

"They cut a lot of things out to make it look like I was on the attack,” Caffrey said, though he never anticipated getting wet.

“I should have been smarter and realized that I’m next to the pool."

Caffrey said has no plans to return for a 10th season, unless the show needs him to finish a story line.

Staub said she fully intends to be a cast member and is contemplating a new book.
