Payless Shoesource is the latest retailer to announce it will shutter stores nationwide, following the likes of Charlotte Russe and Gymboree earlier this year.

The company confirmed Friday that it will close all of its 2,100 stores in the United States and Puerto Rico. Liquidation sales started Sunday, according to multiple reports. Payless also said it was shuttering its e-commerce business.

That means dozens of stores in New Jersey will close their doors in the coming weeks and months, according to a statement Payless Shoesource gave USA Today.

It was unclear how many stores Payless continues to operate in New Jersey. In 2017, when it first filed for bankruptcy, the company reportedly closed 17 stores statewide.

"We expect all stores to remain open until at least the end of March; the majority will remain open until May," the statement read. "This process does not affect the company’s franchise operations or its Latin American stores, which remain open for business as usual.”

The fall of Payless Shoesource marks the largest dismantling of a retailer this year, and doubles the number of retail stores that were set to close in 2019.

Last week, Coresight Research released a 2019 outlook report after tracking 5,524 U.S. store-closure announcements in 2018. In the report, released Feb. 13, the company said that store closures so far this year were up 23 percent versus this time last year, and there were many more looming in the horizon.

Below is a list of New Jersey Payless Shoesource locations, based on listings that appear on Google and on the company's website. This compilation does not include the dozens of stores also listed in Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Union, Camden, Burlington, Gloucester and Mercer counties.
