Alnmouth, Warkworth, Tillside and Alnwick win

It was a good weekend for the local sides in the Northumberland & Tyneside League at the weekend with wins for a number of sides.

Alnmouth & Lesbury 1sts had a seven wicket home win over Annfield Plain 1sts in Division 1. Annfield batted first and with David Baxter hitting 47 and knocks of 38 each from Sam Stephenson and David Maughan they put on 177 all out, with Dushan Hemantha taking 3-63. In reply, Alnmouth were 178-3 with Hemantha on 40.

Alnwick 1sts had a 57 run home win over Cowgate 1sts. Gareth Bateman hit 34 as Alnwick posted 122 with Yasin Hafeez taking 4-23. Cowgate were all out for only 65 with Pankaj Bedi top scoring on 31. Bateman took 5-18.

Tillside 1sts won by 16 runs at home to Seaton Burn 1sts. Sean Whitty hit 29 and Ross Hindmarsh 28 as Tillside made 114, with Javed Mirza taking 4-33. Seaton Burn were all out for 98 in reply with Ross Kirkwood in 29. Whitty took 4-19.

In Division 3, Alnmouth & Lesbury 2nds lost by 156 runs away to Corbridge 1sts. Ross Atkinson hit a century (117) as Corbridge posted 258-7. Alnmouth were all out for 102 with Peter Robinson on 37, Daniel Robinson doing most of the damage with 6-28.

Warkworth 1sts won by seven wickets away to Bomarsund 1sts. Bomarsund were all out for only 73 with Stephen Thain on 26, Matthew Potts taking 4-25. Warkworth (74-3) chased it down in 19 overs with Doug Potts top scoring on 21.

In Division 5, Alnwick 2nds won by five wickets away to Warenford. This was despite a knock of 97 from Dan Patterson, who helped his side post 177-5. Alnwick chased it down in the 40th over at 179-5.

Howick had a big eight wicket home win over Ulgham 2nds in Division 6. Ulgham were all out for only 37, Oliver Tulip finishing with figures of 4-3. Howick then chased it down in less than nine overs at 38-2 with Leon Midgeley on 23 not out.

Rock had a six wicket away win over Berwick 2nds. Niall Jones hit 48 as Berwick found themselves 148-8 at the end of their innings, with Kevin Wilson claiming 4-18. Andrew Bottomer then hit 45 and Paul Roberts 37 not out as Rock eased their way to 150-4.

Embleton lost by nine wickets away to Stobswood 2nds. Embleton were 151 all out, with Stobswood 152-1 in reply.
