Yeadon sacked - Alnwick Town search for new manager

Alnwick Town FC are looking for a new manager after sacking Paul Yeadon.

News of Yeadon’s dismissal broke just before Christmas and immediately drew a strong response on social media, with messages of support.

It was the second time the St James’ Park club had parted company with Yeadon and came with the club sitting third from bottom of the Northern Alliance Premier Division with only two wins out of 11 and seven points.

In his last game in charge, Alnwick went down to a 6-2 away defeat at the hands of Killingworth.

A statement from the club said: “The club can confirm the departure of Paul Yeadon as first team manager.

“Paul will, however, remain involved with the club and continue his role as manager of the newly formed Over 35s team.

“We would like to plavce on record our thanks to Paul for his work over the last year and a half, and wish him all the best for the future.

“A temporary appointment will be made whilst the process of appointing a new permanent manager gets underway.”

Later, it was confirmed Stephen Patterson, part of the management team within the Development Squad and Head Coach of the Junior Section, will take charge of first team affairs until a new manager is confirmed.

Alnwick will kick off 2020 with their first game after the festive break when they take on North Shields Athletic at home on Saturday (January 4).

In Division 1, Rothbury travel to take on Felling Magpies,whilst Red Row are away to Burradon in the Gardner Cup.

In the Development Division, Lowick are home to Ashington Reserves, North Sunderland are home to Whitley Bay Sporting Club A and Wooler are away to Morpeth FC.

ANGLING

In the final of the Eddy Brown Winter Series competition at Chatton, there were 25 anglers in attendance and the winner was Davy Parker, who received £500 cash. Second was Ryan Matthews who won £300 and third was Eric Carmichael who collected £200. Alec Harvey was fourth and he received £100.

GOLF

At the mid-way point of the Alnwick Winter League, R Cooke leads the way on 66 points.
