Wins for Alnmouth, Alnwick and Tillside cricketers

It was a good week for the local leading sides in the Northumberland & Tyneside Cricket Leagie with wins for Alnmouth & Lesbury 1sts, Alnwick 1sts and Tillside 1sts.

Alnmouth 1sts won by 40 runs at home to Swalwell 1sts in Division 1. Knocks of 66 from Dushan Hermantha, 51 from Jonathon Craigs and 43 from Thornton Robinson helped Alnmouth post 249-6. Hermantha then took 3-19 as Swalwell were all out for 209 with John Meadows on 60 and Stephen Smith on 48.

In Division 2, Alnwick 1sts beat Ponteland 1sts by 21 runs. Alnwick were 106 all out with Jonathan Roxburgh on 23, Ben O’Brien taking 3-23. Pont were all out for 85 in reply with three wickets each for Gareth Bateman, David Wright and Roxburgh.

Tillside 1sts had a big 116 run home win over Backworth 1sts. Liam Hindmarsh and Jake Burkett both hit 81 and there was 57 from Calum Bickerton as Tillside made 277-5. The visitors were all out for 161 in reply with Liam Hindmarsh, Calum and Joe Bickerton all taking three wickets.

Warkworth 1sts lost by four runs in their away game against Ashington Rugby 1sts in Division 3. Adam Peacock hit 61 as Ashington out on 164 all out with Doug Potts on 5-37. Warkworth made 160-9 in their 50 overs with Kamran Mansoor on 43, Scott Maddison taking 3-45.

Alnmouth & Lesbury 2nds were forced to concede their away game against Bomarsund 1sts.

In Division 5 Tillside 2nds won by 12 runs away to Cramlington 2nds. Law Atkinson top scored with 61 as Tillside totalled 172-5. Cramlington were 160 all out with just three balls remaining, with Luke Craddock on 39.

Warenford lost a low-scoring game at home to Morpeth 2nds by eight wickets. Kevin Thompson hit 24 as Waren were all out for only 51, A Lyall and Callum Lawn taking three wickets apiece. Ryan Hope was 43 not out as Morpeth replied with 53-2.

Alnwick 2nds (66 all out) lost by 91 runs to Kirkley (157 all out).

In Division 6, Wooler lost at home to Ulgham 2nds by nine wickets. Ian Clark hit 52 and Les Porteous 48 as Wooler made 144-3. Adam Tait was 85 not out and there was 40 from Matthew Jordan as Ulgham put on 145-1 in reply.
