POLICE officers working in Bangor and Bethesda say they have had some "interesting conversations" with coronavirus lockdown rule-breakers over the last two days.

The first, they say, was with a lady from Manchester, who had travelled to the Ogwen Valley with her children to 'relieve the boredom'.

Next was a man from Liverpool who told a Park Ranger in Snowdonia he "didn't care about the restrictions and was going for a walk" in the national park. Police eventually caught up with him in Bodelwyddan.

Meanwhile, a Bangor man has been spoken to yesterday for making several non essential travel journeys in the same day.

Officers have also stopped a taxi who unwittingly had two passengers who live at different addresses. They had decided they were missing each other too much and would break the restrictions to be together.

Taking about the cases, a spokesperson for North Wales Police said: "All five individuals have been reported for Covid related offences.

"The 'lockdown' isn't easy, but it exists to protect everybody - the restrictions apply to everyone.

Inspector Jon Aspinall added: "Officers continue to monitor those coming into , and moving around the local community. Today we have stopped a number of vehicles and have had to prosecute a number of individuals as highlighted, who have been in breach of the COVID restrictions.

"This is necessary to protect our local community and key workers and will continue until the restrictions are lifted. I would like to thank the local community for their cooperation and assistance during this difficult time."
