A beauty therapist from Nottinghamshire is in the running to be crowned 'Model of the World'.

Georgia Nickerson, 21, of Newark, says she feels proud to to representing her country and is relishing the possibility of winning and modelling around the globe.

Ms Nickerson, who has previously been crowned 'Model of England', will find out her fate in the finals at the weekend.

The contest is described as the biggest pageant in the world for models aged 17 to 25. The first competition was held in Miami, and it is currently run by the World Beauty Organisation (WBO).

Ms Nickerson, a beauty therapist who specialises in skin care, said: "I am really proud to representing England at the 25th Top Model of The World at the Meraki Resort in Hurghada, in Egypt.

"I am the only candidate representing England after being crowned Top Model of England which was against 30 girls from around England.

"There are 40 girls in the final from counties all over the world. I am so excited for the final show and have loved my experience so far. I am feeling grateful for this opportunity.

"I’ve met some amazing people, all of the other contestants are so lovely, the resort is absolutely beautiful and the weather is fantastic, I feel so lucky to be here representing my county.”

The former pupil at Toot Hill School in Bingham, added: "If I was to win Top Model of The World, I would be modelling internationally and receive a cash prize of 10,000 US dollars and 20,000 US dollars worth of prizes."

Georgia, who has modelling since the age of 14, said: My family are all really excited to watch me in the final, I’m so pleased to have them here to cheer me on. I want to do this for England and for Newark."

She arrived in Hurghada on December 4 and will leave on the December 17.

According to the WBO: "National winners are coming from a mix of different cultural horizons are selected according to their natural beauty, photogenic qualities, their personality but also based on their potential to fit into the current fashion and marketing trends."

The contestants are a mixture of professional models and others working in different professions, according to the WBO website.

Models can submit an application to enter online.
