A white Christmas might not be looking promising, but a snowy December Saturday has been predicted.

Weather experts are expecting the white stuff to hit the county this weekend, so any plans may need to make way for sledging and snow ball fights.

The Weather Channel and the Met Office have both predicted snow for Nottinghamshire on Saturday (December 15).

The Weather Channel are predicting a mix of snow, rain and wind and the Met Office have estimated rain with some hill snow, moving east.

So if might well be a case of keeping a fingers crossed that the snow settles for long enough for the kids to at least have a few turns on the sledge.

Here's the Nottinghamshire forecast for the next five days according to the Weather Channel:

Wednesday December 12: Cloudy, lows of 1C, highs of 6C.

Thursday December 13: Partly cloudy, lows of -1C, highs of 5C.

Friday December 14: Mostly cloudy, lows of 0C, highs of 3C.

Will the snow settle enough for the kids to enjoy it properly?

Saturday December 15: Mix of rain and snow lows 3C, highs of 4C.

Sunday December 16: Partly cloudy, lows of 4C, highs of 7C.
