A Halal Abattoir is recalling meat products over fears they contain meat which is not fit for human consumtion.

Birmingham Halal Abattoir, which trades as Pac Mecca Meats, is based in Bishop Street in Birmingham.

It has recalled sheep meat, lamb meat and pet food due to concerns over its safety.

The products may contain meat which is unfit for human and pet consumption, according to The Food Standards Agency.

On The Food Standards Agency website it says: "Meat and pet food from four product lines which should have been removed from production have been packaged with meat and pet food which passed inspection.

"As it is not possible to identify which batches contained the unfit product, Birmingham Halal Abattoir has taken the precautionary step of recalling all batches of the products listed below as it might contain meat that is unsafe."

The specific products affected include: 5kg bags containing 36 sheep feet, 6kg bags containing sheep tripe and sheep intestines as well as products used as pet food.

No other Birmingham Halal Abattoir products are known to be affected.

The Food Standards Agency: "Some of the products do not meet food and feed safety requirements and are therefore unsafe to eat or be fed to pets.

"If you have bought any of the above products do not eat them or feed them to your pet. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund."
