Hundreds of people have been turned away from two city centre shops due to flooding.

Tesco in Station Street and the Co-op inside Nottingham Railway Station have both been closed.

Nottingham has been hit by heavy rain since Monday, and it's due to carry on until at least Wednesday.

The Met Office issued a yellow warning rain in our area from 4am on Monday.

Staff at Tesco said that the store has been closed since 5am on Tuesday, June 11, after water started to leak through the ceiling.

Due to health and safety they were forced to close the store. They are currently waiting for engineers.

Notices have been placed on the windows to explain why the store is closed.

Co-op, just across the road at Nottingham Railway Station, has also been affected by the heavy rainfall.

A spokesman for the Co-op said: "We apologise for any inconvenience. Rain water has been leaking into our store located in Nottingham Railway Station.

"The safety of colleagues and customers is our priority and so we have closed our store temporarily as a precaution."
