A woman who is set to deny a charge of putting lives at risk by starting a fire which caused millions of pounds of damage at Nottingham Railway Station wanted to have the case heard outside of the city.

But that was denied by Judge Gregory Dickinson who said the trial, expected to last one week, will be heard at Nottingham Crown Court in August.

Her defence team argued that the reason for a change of location was due to the publicity and notoriety around the case.

At Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, June 14, Judge Dickinson said: "My decision is it will remain in Nottingham. I am absolutely certain."

Gemma Louise Peat, 34, of Wilford Crescent East in The Meadows, appeared behind glass at the short hearing.

She wore a grey jumper, black jeans, with her blonde hair tied back.

The charge is arson with intent to endanger life and destroy / damage property recklessly as to endanger life. She is pleading not guilty.

She remains in custody.
