Former Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman is looking to beat Celtic to the signature of ex-Red Oliver Burke, according to the Daily Record.

Burke is currently on loan in Glasgow from West Bromwich Albion and has been in fine form north of the border, earning a call-up to his national team following a spell playing for the Under-21 side.

The Baggies spent £15m on the Scottish international back in 2017, but it is quickly becoming clear his future at the West Midlands club is uncertain.

Oliver Burke has been in good form for Celtic

Having scored four goals in his first nine league appearances for Celtic, the 21-year-old told the Daily Record he wanted to stay at Celtic Park, but now his former manager, Freedman, reportedly could be set to hijack the deal as Celtic assess their options.

Freedman is currently director of football at Crystal Palace and is understood to be a big admirer of his former player.

Burke left Forest back in 2016 to join Bundesliga side Red Bull Leipzig in a move worth £13m.
