Former Nottingham Forest ace Marlon Harewood may be 39 years old, but the striker is still going strong.

The Reds academy product clearly has no intention of hanging up his boots just yet as he has signed for non-league Harrowby United.

The Grantham-based side ply their trade in Division One of the United Counties League and currently sit in sixth place in the table.

Harewood came up through the ranks at the City Ground and, along with David Johnson, is the last Forest striker to have hit at least 20 goals in a season.

The 2002/03 term saw the duo in fine form, with Johnson bagging 29 goals and his teammate 21 to fire the club into the play-offs.

That was Harewood’s most prolific campaign for the Reds and ultimately earned him a move to West Ham United the following year.

He went on to play for the likes of Aston Villa - where he worked with current Forest boss Martin O'Neill - Newcastle United, Blackpool and Barnsley, as well as returning to the banks of the Trent for a spell.

In total, he played more than 130 games in the Premier League and made more than 500 league appearances across his career.

“It’s with great pleasure that Harrowby United FC have secured the permanent signing of former Nottingham Forest, West Ham Utd, Bristol City and Aston Villa forward Marlon Harewood,” said the club.

“Marlon goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s game.”

Harewood, who also runs a car modification business, could make his debut when Harrowby travel to face Lutterworth Athletic this weekend.
