Brennan Johnson made it four goals in two games for Nottingham Forest Under-23s as they beat QPR 3-1 at the City Ground.

Johnson had scored twice in the opening game of the season at Bristol City as the Reds won by the same margin - and he got two more in a well deserved win on Tuesday afternoon.

Alex Mighten, a bright young winger, got the other goal, but it is Johnson who looks ready to play a bigger part in the first team than the small taste Sabri Lamouchi has handed him this season.

The Wales youth international was not the only one to impress with striker Will Swan setting up the first goal as he used his pace to good effect.

Midfielder Liam Bridcutt skippered the team and also played well as a makeshift central defender in the Professional Development League game.

Forest had the best of the first half, but had to settle for a one goal lead at the break.

They opened the scoring with the first real chance after 26 minutes when Swan sprinted clear down the right and pulled the ball back for Johnson to tap in.

Johnson saw Dillon Barnes make a fine save from his free kick before Barnes saved from the same player again late in the half.

QPR were much brighter at the start of the second half and should have equalised when Deshane Dalling missed an open goal from six yards after a shot rebounded off the post.

Forest reacted the better and went three up with two quick goals. First, Mighten saw a right footed effort deflected in after 69 minutes.

Four minutes later Yassine En-Neyah found Johnson and he calmly scored his second of the day, low into the bottom corner from 16 yards.

It might have been more with sub Rezart Rema, an Albanian Under-19 defender who spent last season with Olympiacos, failing to find Mighten when in on goal.

Armide Oteh pulled one back with four minutes to go, with a fine solo goal, but there was still time for Mighten and En-Neyah to hit the post in quick succession at the end of a great second half.
