One of the Nottingham's most popular restaurants is set to reopen - but with a very different vibe.

Customers won't be able to chill over a glass of sangria or Estrella in the relaxed rustic surroundings of Bar Iberico - but they will soon be able to indulge in the mega-tasty tapas at home.

Classic crispy chicken (or crispy cauliflower, if you're veggie) will certainly be on the menu.

The once buzzing award-winning restaurant, in Carlton Street, Hockley, will have a much more subdued atmosphere than it did pre-lockdown with just chefs at work in the kitchen.

A new click and collect takeaway service will launch on June 4, with online ordering and payment.

Customers will be given a time slot to collect their order from the bi-fold windows which open out onto the pedestrianised street.

A limited menu of best-selling dishes will be on offer. As well as crispy chicken with spicy Jerez sauce tapas lovers will be able to tuck into calamari, baked picos blue cheese, beetroot and hazelnut honey, wood-fired flatbreads, patatas bravas, charcuterie and cheese.

During lockdown, chefs have remained busy, teaming up with the charity Open Kitchens to produce thousands of hearty meals for vulnerable and self-isolating residents.

Co-owner Dan Lindsay said: "It can only be ordered online with a time slot so we don't get completely over-run with orders. There will be a limit on how many orders we can take."

"We're really excited to get back up and running. It's been great doing the charity work and we are still doing that alongside this."

Staff are wearing PPE and temperature checks are being carried out each day.

Takeaways will be available Thursday, Friday and Saturday for the first week. The following week, it will increase to four days a week, starting on Wednesday June 10. Delivery will also start that day, in partnership with taxi firm DG Cars.
