New places for Indian food, Neopolitan pizza, brunch, real ales and cocktails are on the horizon, making the list of new bars, restaurants and cafes to visit even longer.

Nottingham's food and drink scene means there's never any shortage of spots for a change. Most are in the city centre - from Mansfield Road to the Lace Market and Hockley, to a prime location in Old Market Square but there are a few out of town too, so start planning how and when you're going to start ticking them off.

Bringing a touch of 'je ne sais quoi' to Nottingham's historic Lace Market is a chic, sophisticated new venture by the owners of Petis Paris.

Diners will be transported to a Parisian courtyard, complete with a specially commissioned two-metre tall Eiffel Tower water feature.

Set to open on August 29, Paris will be located in the former Lacemakers' Arms in High Pavement.

Tipu Sultan

It's not long now until the opulent new Indian restaurant in Sherwood opens. Bookings are now being taken for the venue which has replaced Fat Cat bar in Mansfield Road.

Chicken, fish and lamb, coated in herbs and spices, will be chargrilled to create starters of jinga tikka, murgh seekh kebab and Sultani chops.

Next up come mains "handcrafted in the old way" such as hyderabadi handi, made to a secret recipe, paya (lamb trotters) and chicken and meat keema.

As a no-alcohol restaurant (not even bring your own) expect drinks such as strawberry mint spritzer and lassi, a yoghurt based Indian drink.

Slug and Lettuce

Work is currently underway to convert Yates's in Long Row into a second Slug and Lettuce for Nottingham. The food menu and drinks will be familiar to Slug fans: sharing plates, salads, tostadas, small plates and afternoon tea - and of course, the ever popular Porn Star Martini trees and plentiful prosecco.

But the £450,000 refurbishment will result in a very different look to the existing Cornerhouse bar, with neon lights and pretty birdcage booths. All will be revealed when the venue overlooking Old Market Square opens on September 9.

Six Barrel Drafthouse

There's already a Six Barrel Drafthouse in Carlton Street, Hockley. Now plans for a second pub have been revealed across the other side of town.

It's the end of the road for Irish bar Keogh's, next door to the House of Fraser, in Mansfield Road, come August 18. The following day work will begin on transforming the spit and sawdust boozer into a laid-back cask and craft beer alehouse, serving locally roasted coffee and food.

Opening mid to late September, Drafthouse number two will have a first floor roof terrace with room for 50.

Burra Khana

The phrase, in Hindi, means 'great entertainment or feast', and the new eatery will be centred on sharing. The menu will consist of Indian-inspired small plates and charcoal and barbecue skewers, focusing on the street food of Delhi and Jaipur, and drawing on techniques and flavours from Middle Eastern countries such as Iran, Turkey, and Lebanon.

Diners can look forward to chaat, panipuri, baby poussin marinated in yoghurt, malt vinegar, ginger and garlic paste, and served with a sprinkle of kebab masala, and jumbo king prawn kabab marinated in a yoghurt-based paste, topped off with ground carom seeds, red chillies, turmeric and garam masala, skewered and cooked traditionally in a clay oven.

The latest concept from Red Dog Saloon founder Tom Brooke will sit alongside the existing American barbecue restaurant in Victoria Street

French 75

Bringing a touch of class to Nottingham city centre is a new bar that's perfect for date night. Named after the cocktail French 75, made from gin, lemon, a dash of sugar and champagne, there will be fizz, wine, premium spirits, bottles of beer and cocktails.

The intimate bar, close to Nottingham Castle in Friar Lane, will have two individually-designed rooms and an outdoor bijou garden.

The grand opening will be taking place on Wednesday August 21.

Route One Bar

Nottingham's historic Blue Bell pub has closed and, controversially, will become a sports bar after a revamp over the summer.

The pub, which has entrances in Upper Parliament Street and Forman Street, went from being an old boozer to a student haunt, and when it reopens all the top sports fixtures will be shown.

The first big name fight announced for Route One will be the world heavyweight title boxing rematch between Andy Ruiz Jr and Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia on December 7.

"If this doesn't get you excited about our new bar, I don't know what will!" they said.

Chaska

Chaska means addiction and the owners want customers to become addicted to this new restaurant which will be opening in Lenton Boulevard, in a former Blockbuster rental shop.

A menu of Indian street food will be served by the people behind one of Notts favourite curry houses.

It's a new venture for Shahid Rana and his brother Sohail, the owners of Lime in Nuthall, an award-winning Indian restaurant, which has a recommendation in the Michelin Guide for its flavoursome food.

A sneak peek of the menu reveals Lahori-style vegetable samosas with spicy chick peas and with tamarind sauce, chatt patt chicken wings, marinated in a special spice blend, and cooked on skewers over a charcoal flame and achari chicken, a traditional curry made with tangy pickles and spices.

Yolk

As you'd guess from the name, there's a lot going on with eggs. Scrambled, boiled, poached or fried, take your pick.

Work is underway at a former off licence, in Carlton Street, Hockley, to turn it into a cool place for breakfast and coffee.

Build-your-own brekkies will offer nearly 300 different combinations of eggs, carbs and sides such as avocado, maple bacon, and spinach.

Yolk, the latest venture from the team at meatballs and cocktails joint 31K next door, is set to open early September once the renovations are complete.

The Rustic Crust

There's no date yet but watch this space. The pizza-making duo have been inundated with fans (known as pizza stalkers) asking when they're going to open but because of council meetings being put back, it's taken longer than expected for councillors to approve the plans to convert a former Co-op in Farnsfield into a 50-seater family pizzeria.

A timeline of works is being put together as we speak. Ross Oliver, who runs the business with his wife Camille, have been creating authentic Neapolitan-style pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven in their converted vehicle, nicknamed Poppy the Pizza Truck, for more than four years.

This will be their first restaurant but Poppy will still be kept busy at all the weddings they have lined up for next year.

A family-friendly all day cafe bar is set to open in 2020 in a grand Grade II listed building in Nottingham city centre with everything from lazy breakfasts to drinks for a night out on the town.

"Think aristocratic abundance with a dash of local village cricket pavilion pottiness," is how the national operators describe the Cosy Club concept that will be coming to the property in Victoria Street, which was once a casino and fine dining restaurant.

An all-day brunch menu will be served, together with sandwiches, burgers, tapas, sharing boards and classic mains such as buttermilk chicken and slow-roasted pork belly. With separate gluten-free and vegan menus, no one is left out.
