The fairytale has come to an end at Nottingham's magical tea room, Storybooks. Ten weeks after opening new premises in Upper Parliament Street, owner Ash Hudson has called time on the business which brought the stories of Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and the Wizard of Oz to life.

Customers could enjoy the antics of Captain Hook, Tinkerbell, Dorothy, the Mad Hatter and Wicked Witch of the West - all played by actors - over tea and cake and crazy freakshakes.

The cafe, previously called Wonderland, relocated from Hopkinson's vintage emporium in Station Street, in November. But it has now closed and the premises are being cleared.

Ash said: "I have made the very hard decision to close my business. I have learned endless life and business lessons and definitely will advance my career in project management.

"Wonderland will always have a fond place in my heart and was worth the hardship.

"I'm proud of what I achieved and did the best that I could, but family and stability has to come first!" added Ash, who recently became a dad.
