Artist Pete McKee is no stranger to a Nottingham collaboration having worked with both Paul Smith and Forest on past projects, including designing the t-shirt artwork for the I Believe In Miracles merchandise.

And now, ahead of his visit to the city next month, the 53-year-old has created a new tourism poster for Robin Hood County with the iconic Raleigh Chopper as its focal point.

Inspired by his love of traditional railway posters, the Sheffield artist, who has also worked with Liam Gallagher, was excited to come up with a design for his Nottingham tourism poster.

He says: "I’ve often depicted bikes in my work and thought this would be a great opportunity to pay tribute to the Raleigh bikes which were originally manufactured in Nottingham.”

The first 50 posters will be signed by Pete and available from his pop-up gallery at Rough Trade, in Broad Street, when its doors open at 10am Friday, July 26. The posters will be priced £20 and will be available on a first come, first served basis.

The pop-up gallery will display specially selected classic artwork in addition to brand-new McKee products from his Spring/Summer collection.

The visit to Nottingham coincides with the release of Pete’s new book, Council Skies, the first comprehensive collection of his work since he began painting in 2004.

Featuring more than 70 illustrations of the artist’s work, plus a collection of sketches, many previously unseen, this publication offers the most in-depth insight into his artistic career.

It also features a foreword from award-winning social affairs writer and author of Austerity Bites: A journey to the sharp end of cuts in the UK, Mary O'Hara, and an introduction from Dr Susan McPherson, lecturer in Sociology at Sheffield Hallam University.

Pete will hold a book signing at the Nottingham pop-up from 10am-midday on Saturday, July 27.
