Tired, stressed, like cats? We've found the purr-fect way to unwind with a fitness session sure to leave participants 'feline' fine.

Cat lovers can take part in a yoga session at Nottingham's Kitty Cafe - the home of nearly 30 furry friends.

The two-hour session includes an hour of yoga with a fully qualified instructor plus time to enjoy the company of delectable felines, such as fluffy-pawed Heathcliffe, Persian princess Popcorn and the impossibly cute new kittens George and Fred.

There are 25 places and the moggies will be roaming around as participants strike a pose - and sometimes they even try to join in.

Don't be surprised if they want to share your mat...

"One of the cats tried to jump on someone's back as they were doing the downward dog," said events organiser Cate McLoughlin.

"It's very informal and there is that crossover of cat lovers and people into self-care."

Most of the participants are female but two men have booked in for the next session, which starts with the chance to grab a drink and enjoy half-an-hour of cat fussing before the yoga starts.

Afterwards, the cat lovers can spend a further 30 minutes mingling.

"There is a social element to it," added Cate, who is in the process of designing a Kitty Cafe yoga mat which will be on sale. Until then, participants need to bring their own.

"Everyone feels chilled by the time they leave. We want it to be a feelgood thing," said Cate.

The session, at the cafe in Friar Lane, will run from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on Friday March 1, and participants will leave with a goody bag of treats from local health, beauty and wellbeing businesses.

The cost is £20. That includes the £6 welfare charge which goes towards looking after the cats. To book call 0115 924 2214 or email events@kittycafe.co.uk for further information.
