Arkansas’ coaches are on the road for the spring evaluation period as they are working to continue to check in on prospects for the Class of 2020 and beyond.

The Razorbacks currently have six commitments for 2020 and some transfers will also count forward to this class.

This will be Chad Morris’ third class at Arkansas, second he has had full year to recruit to. His first class was assembled in about a two-month period.

Here’s an early look at how the numbers might play out in 2020 though this is certain to change.

Quarterback — Arkansas is likely just to sign one here barring a lot of quarterbacks leaving. It’s not likely the Hogs went into the Class of 2019 planning to sign three quarterbacks, but that’s what they ended up with. They currently have four on scholarship with KJ Jefferson and Nick Starkel also headed to Fayetteville. Only Ben Hicks will be a senior this fall. Starkel will be the only junior on scholarship while Daulton Hyatt is a sophomore. Connor Noland and John Stephen Jones are redshirt freshmen while Jefferson will be a true freshman.

Running Back — It’s likely the Razorbacks sign two or three in this class. The numbers are low there. Devwah Whaley is the only senior, but Rakeem Boyd could leave early for the NFL if he has a big season, which is very likely if he stays healthy. Chase Hayden is a junior with Jordon Curtis a sophomore. A’Montae Spivey is the only freshman running back coming in. Trelon Smith is transferring in from Arizona State, will have to sit out the 2019 season, and then have two years to play two. He will reportedly count forward to 2020.

Wide receiver — This is a position where the Hogs already have two commitments and they aren’t finished. Expect the Hogs to sign three or four wide receivers in 2020. It seems like they already have a bunch of receivers on scholarship, but they really don’t. Deon Stewart is the lone scholarship senior. Jordan Jones and De’Vion Warren are juniors. Koilan Jackson and Michael Woods are sophomores while Shamar Nash and Trey Knox are true freshmen. Treylon Burks and TQ Jackson are true freshmen reporting in the summer. Sophomore walk-on Tyson Morris is someone to watch who could get a scholarship before next season. John David White is a preferred walk-on who is very talented and will report this summer. Arkansas has commitments from Alpharetta (Ga.) Denmark four-star Ze’Vian Capers and Austin (Texas) Westlake three-star Mason Mangum.

Tight End — Arkansas has a commitment from Crockett (Texas) tight end Allen Horace for the Class of 2020. The Razorbacks went through spring drills with four scholarship tight ends. Cheyenne O’Grady, Chase Harrell and Hayden Johnson are seniors while Grayson Gunter is a junior. Another player to watch for a possible scholarship addition is junior Blake Kern who drew praise from the coaches this spring. Arkansas has arguably the nation’s top tight end in the Class of 2019 reporting this summer when Hudson Henry arrives on campus. It’s expected the Razorbacks will sign two tight ends in 2020.

Offensive Line — Arkansas is building its numbers on the offensive line and no one has to be happier about that than Dustin Fry. He had to make adjustments each practice last fall simply because the group lacked numbers. Arkansas recently gained a verbal pledge from Carthage (Texas) four-star Ty’kieast Crawford. That was a big commitment for the Hogs. They are expected to sign around four offensive linemen in this class. Former Pulaski Academy and Notre Dame offensive lineman Luke Jones announced last week he’s transferring to Arkansas. It’s still not certain if he will be eligible immediately or have to sit out 2019. Either way he will have four years to play three at Arkansas. He will reportedly count forward to 2020. Arkansas has two seniors on the offensive line in Austin Capps and Colton Jackson. The juniors are Ty Clary, Myron Cunningham and Chibueze Nwanna. Kirby Adcock, Dalton Wagner and Shane Clenin are sophomores. Noah Gatlin, Silas Robinson and Ryan Winkel are redshirt freshmen. Arkansas gained a valuable preferred walk-on in Drew Vest at midterm. Logan Kallesen is another preferred walk-on who will enroll this summer. Arkansas has Brady Latham, Beaux Limmer, Ricky Stromberg and Dylan Rathcke reporting in the summer as well.
