Subiaco Academy Class of 2022 athlete Jackson Cobbs is the son of former legendary Razorback running back Cedric Cobbs.

Cobbs, 6-1, 199, is capable of playing many positions in high school and eventually in college. He was at Arkansas’ Elite Prospect Camp on Saturday where he worked at wide receiver. Following the camp, Cobbs talked about how it went.

“I think it went pretty well,” Cobbs said. “I got better today.”

Cobbs played up with the varsity at Subiaco Academy as a freshman. He’s still learning the game, but he feels Saturday helped in that regard.

“Yes sir,” Cobbs said. “I used to play running back, but I think I’m gonna grow out of that position so I switched to receiver. I learned a couple of things.”

The Trojans struggled to a 1-9 mark in 2018. Cobbs did see enough action that he rushed 28 times for 142 yards (5.1 per carry) and caught a pass for six yards. He had three kickoff returns for 14 yards and also on defense had eight tackles, five unassisted and one tackle for loss.

His father lettered at Arkansas from 1999-2003. Cedric was named MVP in Arkansas’ 27-6 Cotton Bowl win over Texas in 2000. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots with the No. 128-over pick. At Arkansas, Cobbs rushed 589 times for 3,018 yards and 26 touchdowns while catching 26 passes for 138 yards and one touchdown. He was a highly-recruited running back from J.A. Fair coming out of high school.

Have you heard a lot of stories about how good your dad was in high school and college?

“Yes sir,” Cobbs said.

The younger Cobbs talked about his goals for the 2019 season at Subiaco Academy.

“I want to try to get a couple of offers and make it to the finals (in playoffs),” Cobbs said.

Cobbs talked about the facilities at Arkansas.

“I think it’s nice,” Cobbs said. “I have never been to any other college, but this is nice.”
