After missing Tuesday night’s shock defeat against Furness Select, Barrow AFC’s influential midfielder Jason Taylor should be fit to play in their latest pre-season friendly against Workington tomorrow.

A back problem meant Taylor was left out as a precaution in midweek and manager Ian Evatt admitted his side missed his presence in the middle of the park as they lost their way in the second half.

While they haven’t suffered anything serious - at least, nothing like Jacob Blyth’s dislocated shoulder last year - the Bluebirds have picked up a couple of injuries in their two friendlies so far.

Defender Brian Wilson, who is trying to earn a new contract with the club, had to go off against Blackburn, while midfielder Lewis Hardcastle suffered a thigh strain on Tuesday.

Evatt said: "I've no idea with Lewis, if I'm honest. Jason Taylor has got a back spasm, but he should be OK for Saturday.

"With Lewis, it's nothing serious and he did the right thing by coming off, but whether it keeps him out of Saturday I don't know.

"The last thing we want is him playing and it becoming a long-term problem. At the minute, we'll have a look at him, manage him and hopefully he'll be OK.

"Injuries are a part of every squad and it's about how we deal with them. We'll look after them as best we can, but the main thing now is to lick our wounds and go again on Saturday."
