In the end, he did the right thing.

A thief who pinched a Kentucky homeowner’s porch chairs returned them days later — with a heartfelt apology.

“Ma’am, I feel so stupid for doing it and I am so sorry,” said the suspect — who remains on the loose — speaking through the door. “I apologize to the fullest. I have four daughters and I’m just embarrassed as hell.”

While the man claimed the theft was actually a dare, the Covington, Ky., homeowner remained unconvinced and called the cops, reported ABC News.

“It wasn’t a dare. You came and looked at my porch,” snapped the homeowner. “You came and scoped it out, made me feel unsafe in my own home.”

The suspect then fled before police arrived.

The apology came after the recorded theft was broadcast on local news stations. People who recognized the culprit alerted him that cops were seeking him, according to the unidentified homeowner’s Facebook post.

The man actually was spotted scoping out her porch from his truck two days before the actual theft.
