This Wisconsin cop should be given a badge of honor.

Kevin Zimmermann, of the Milwaukee Police Department, is being heralded for taking the high road with a traffic violator.

While on patrol on Oct. 12, he came across Andrella Jackson, who was driving a car with an invalid registration, and had children in the back seat.

“There was three kids in the back, two of them were very young,” Zimmermann told WTMJ. “Didn’t notice any car seats or any restraints. Clearly, they weren’t wearing seat belts because they’re jumping around back there waving at me.”

Jackson reportedly said she recently purchased the car from an auction and hadn’t had time to register it yet — and she couldn’t afford car seats.

“With bills coming up and winter coming up,” Jackson told the outlet, “I got to get coats and boots and shoes and stuff, so it was kind of hard for me.”

Zimmermann told WTMJ: “I’m a father myself, I have three kids… I thought of my kids jumping around. What if a car hit them and they flew and got seriously hurt, if not killed?”

Feeling empathetic to the mother’s plight, Zimmermann took Jackson to Walmart to buy her car seats with his own money.

After shelling out $75 for the seats, he visited Jackson’s home to install them in her vehicle.

“I got these for you and your kids so your kids can be safe and you don’t have to worry about at least this part of the situation you’re in,” Zimmermann said he told Jackson. “She kept saying thank you and the kids kept saying thank you.”

The Milwaukee Police Department publicly thanked Zimmermann for going “the extra mile” in a post on its Facebook page.

By the way, Jackson didn’t get cited for the traffic violation.
