Countdown’s gotta go on...stiff upper lip, folks. 23 left, so #23 on the Boise State roster is getting the spotlight—Khyheem Waleed

#23, Khyheem Waleed, RS Freshman, WR

Stats

Height: 6’0” (-3)

Weight: 202 lbs (+12)

High School: Casteel High School, Queen Creek, AZ

How’d he get to The BlueTM?

A 3-star recruit, Waleed fielded offers from a litany of Power 5, G5, and even an Ivy League offer from Yale, but he eventually decided on Boise State. Word on the street is Eric Kiesau RECRUITING GAWD made a connection, and Khyheem wanted to get on board with him.

Nickname

”Heem”

So when he toasts a defender, we can exclaim “GOT HEEM”

Look-alike

Giannis Anti...Anteik...Anteak... Giannis.

Career highlights

Saw action in 4 games for the Broncos in 2019. Caught 25 passes for 447 yards and 4 TDs as a senior at Queen Creek. Caught 14 passes for 358 yards and 8 TDs as a junior at Queen Creek. First Team 3A All-Region as a junior. Honorable mention 3A All-Conference as a junior. 3-star recruit as ranked by ESPN, 247Sports and Rivals. Number 9 prospect in AZ in 2019 recruiting cycle.

2020 Prospectus

We know by now that dudes (and sometimes recruiting services) will embellish heights, weights, and 40 times...but Waleed is 3 inches shorter this year than he was listed last year on 247Sports, so I’m starting to think this is how he showed up at the regional combine...

Still, this 6’ version can do some work and I can’t wait to see just how his skillset translates to our mega-deep WR corps. Of course, like the rest of the team (sob) we won’t be seeing him in 2020 but with a little luck...perhaps in the spring of 2021 (that’s the first time I’ve typed that and man, is it weird). Let’s lean in to the assumption that Hank Bachmeier will be the starting QB then and man, does he have some weapons. Sure, John Hightower is gone but guys like Khalil Shakir, CT Thomas, Octavius Evans, Stefan Cobbs, Billy Bowens, Shea Whiting—and by the time we lace ‘em up again—Latrell Caples (and more). So, Hank will have some mega options and I haven’t even mentioned the tight ends (they had their time!). Personally, I’m really intrigued by what Waleed can bring to the table...he had Big 12, Big 10, Pac 12, and ACC offers coming out of Queen Creek despite being somewhat lightly used for his talent level. With John Hightower’s departure, there are immediately a few more touches to go around and though we’ve got lots of ways to divide ‘em, I think Waleed has as good a chance as any to carve away some of those. I miss football, you guys.

Is he on Twitter?

He is, but like many of his peers...is more into that RT game.

Completely made up fact

You still can’t Waleed a horse to water and make him wadrink (Khyheem is a gatorade guy, anyway)
