SILVER CREEK — A 19-year-old Silver Creek man faces drug charges after a Saturday morning traffic stop.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the village of Silver Creek for an observed traffic infraction.

The operator was identified as 19-year-old Keizer S. Smith of Silver Creek. A quantity of marijuana was reportedly observed in Smith’s vehicle in plain view.

Further search and investigation led to the seizure of more than 25 grams of marijuana and other paraphernalia.

Smith was arrested and transported to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Hanover Substation for processing. Smith was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and received a citation for operating a motor vehicle while on a mobile phone.

Smith was later released with appearance tickets to answer for these charges at a later date.
