The state surpassed 600,000 cases of the coronavirus as of Thursday, Aug. 13.

The 9,544 new cases reported, brought the cumulative total since tracking began to 601,241. There were also 170 new deaths reported on Thursday, making for a total of 10,952 people who have died, according to unofficial counts from county websites.

COVID-related hospitalizations across the state continue to decline, and were down by more than 200 patients as of Thursday. State health officials reported 223 fewer COVID-related hospitalizations, totaling 6,424, marking the ninth day straight that hospitalizations had declined.

The state’s breakdown of cases by age is as follows:

    • 5 and younger: 2% (12,129)
    • 5-17: 7.6% (45,101)
    • 18-34: 35.3% (209,467)
    • 35-49: 25% (148,209)
    • 50-59: 14% (83,042)
    • 60-64: 5.1% (30,057)
    • 65-69: 3.5% (20,582)
    • 70-74: 2.4% (14,333)
    • 75-79: 1.7% (9,904)
    • 80 and older: 3.3% (19,479)

The state’s breakdown of deaths by age group is as follows:

  • 5 and younger: 0% (0)
  • 5-17: 0% (1)
  • 18-34: 1.5% (157)
  • 35-49: 5.7% (612)
  • 50-59: 10.2% (1,083)
  • 60-64: 8% (858)
  • 65-69: 10% (1,063)
  • 70-74: 11.4% (1,221)
  • 75-79: 11.3% (1,208)
  • 80 and older: 41.8% (4,461)
