Former Valiants: Jak Alnwick released by Glasgow Rangers
Jak Alnwick released: the keeper has become the second prominent former Port Vale goalkeeper to be released this summer.
Alnwick is one of six players to be released by Glasgow Rangers.
The goalkeeper was signed by Port Vale in August 2015, initially on a short-term contract, to cover an injury to Chris Neal. However, Alnwick made an impressive start to his Valiants career and he agreed a two and a half year contract in October. He was named the club’s young player of the year at the end of the 2015-16 season.
Alnwick’s form had attracted attention and the goalkeeper was sold to Glasgow Rangers for a six figure fee in January 2017. He struggled to gain a first team place with the Scottish giants and was released after making just eleven first-team appearances for the club.
