A race planned for downtown Portland Saturday has been moved across the Willamette River, and an amateur boxing match was canceled, as the city braced for rallies that some feared could turn violent.
But for all the headlines about the clashes and protests, life will continue as usual for most Portland-area residents. Here are some Saturday events and activities for those wishing to avoid the downtown fray:

This third annual celebration is a free event honoring Tongan heritage through performances, live music, art and more. If you stay until dusk, the evening will end in a free showing of the movie "Bumblebee" in the Gateway Discovery Park.

Watch Portland's Adult Soapbox Derby:

Where: Mt. Tabor Park, 6220 SE Salmon St, Portland
The tradition of the PDX Adult Soap Box Derby lives on as participants gather at the top of Mt. Tabor Park with their hand-made mobile contraptions. Thousands gather at this free event to watch over 40 cars race down the dormant volcano.
Take in some Shakespeare in the park

Parade at Multnomah Days:

Montavilla Jazz Festival:

Join the third annual Oregon Bigfoot Festival at Glenn Otto Community Park is the perfect place to connect with your fellow Squatchers.
