Under coach Jonathan Smith, the Oregon State Beavers have re-emphasized in-state recruiting and have the commitments to prove it.
In the class of 2019, Oregon State has secured six in-state pledges – Clackamas defensive lineman Kelsen Hennessy, Bend tight end Luke Musgrave, West Salem athlete Anthony Gould, Marshfield defensive end Cory Stover, Crescent Valley linebacker Omar Speights and, on Monday, added North Bend offensive lineman Jacob Ferenczi.
The 6-foot-6, 270-pound lineman, who could develop into all five spots along the offensive line, committed to Oregon State over Portland State and a walk-on spot from USC:

“I chose Oregon State because of a few reasons – One, because I’ve always been an OSU fan and I just grew up watching them,” Ferenczi said. “Also, the whole staff is super nice and I’m just honestly excited to see what Coach Smith is gonna continue to do with the program, and I want be a part of that. It’s also nice that it’s still close to home and I want to get a degree in civil engineering and OSU has a great engineering program.”
Given his size and athleticism, Ferenczi may develop into a sleeper for the Beavers, as he has added value given his positional versatility.
“They want me to be able to play all five spots, because they said they want to have the best five linemen on the field at all times, so I’m sure I’ll get moved around a little bit.”
Oregon State’s class currently ranks 69th nationally on 247Sports and 68th on Rivals.
