Oregon State offensive lineman Gus Lavaka was among 83 players named to the Outland Trophy preseason watch list on Tuesday.

The award honors college football’s best interior lineman at the end of each season.

Lavaka, a senior from Kearns, Utah, has started 31 of his 34 games at Oregon State, including a streak of 26 starts in a row that dates to his freshman season in 2016. He earned all-Pac-12 honorable mention his freshman year and was named a freshman All-American by Campus Insiders and Pro Football Focus.

A graduate in digital communication arts, Lavaka last season helped clear the way for Jermar Jefferson’s 1,380-yard rushing season.

The Beavers open the 2019 season at home against Oklahoma State at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30 (TV on Fox Sports 1).
