Sean Mannion could’ve fallen apart after throwing a disastrous interception, instead he regrouped and played solidly Sunday night.

The Minnesota Vikings quarterback and wide receiver Chad Beebe miscommunicated on a pass play in the second quarter. Mannion’s pass sailed past Beebe and into the hands of Seattle Seahawks safety DeShawn Shead, who took the pick 88 yards to the house for a pick-six score.

The former Oregon State star didn’t allow the mistake to adversely affect him, and he responded by the leading the Vikings on a seven-play, 63-yard drive that ended with Mannion throwing a 3-yard touchdown pass to tight end Irv Smith during the Vikings’ 25-19 win over the Seahawks in a preseason game.

Mannion completed 11-of-14 passes for 88 yards and a touchdown for a passer rating of 86.9 in the game.

“He’s had a good camp and he’s had a couple good games,” Vikings coach Mike Zimmer told reporters after the game. "There was one bad play, and it was really a miscommunication between Beebe and him. “We’ll try to clear that up and make sure that doesn’t happen again. But it was nice to see him go back out there and play well.”

Mannion signed a one-year, $895,000 contract with the Vikings in April after spending his first four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. He is battling Kyle Sloter for the backup quarterback position behind starter Kirk Cousins.
