Portland Wednesday traffic: Open house offered for information on NE 99th St improvements in Vancouver

Clark County Public Works is offering an open house to discuss proposed improvements on Northeast 99th Street between Northeast 94th and 117th avenues (SR 503).

The public can attend any time between 4:30 and 7 p.m. Wednesday, in the common area of building 200 at Prairie High School, 11311 NE 119th St., Vancouver. Staff will be on hand to answer questions and take comments from residents. A map of the proposed changes will be available.

A recent release said roadway changes are intended to improve cross circulation in the area. The proposed plan includes:

  • Roundabouts at the intersections of Northeast 94th Avenue/Northeast 99th Street and Northeast 107th Avenue/Northeast 99th Street
  • Sidewalks, bike lanes and/or mixed use paths on both sides of Northeast 99th Street
  • A travel lane in each direction
  • Center turn lane in specific locations
  • New street lighting at roundabouts

Multnomah County’s Southeast Cochran Road bridge construction project continues this week. The road will be closed to through traffic for approximately four months as workers replace the small culvert carrying Beaver Creek under Cochran Road with a 60-foot long bridge. The current culvert presents a barrier to fish and has shifted over time. The new bridge will ensure the roadway stays stable.

The road, which is just south of Mt. Hood Community College, will be closed from Southeast Troutdale Road to just past the culvert on the west side of Beaver Creek. The neighborhood west of the work site will remain accessible via Northeast 17th Drive up to and including Northeast Paloma Avenue.

Property owners on Cochran Road near the work zone will have access to their properties at all times.
