And you thought motorists in Seattle or Boston were bad.
Portland drivers rank as the worst in the United States, according to a new report published by QuoteWizard, a website that compares insurance quotes.
The survey based its findings on data related to crashes, speeding tickets, intoxicated driving infractions and other traffic violations.
“Hard to believe speeding is the issue in Portland given the brutal gridlock traffic on I-5,” the report’s author writes.
After Portland, the survey found drivers in Boise, Virginia Beach, Columbus (Ohio) and Sacramento to be the worst. Seattle (No. 14) and Boston (No. 28) didn’t even crack the top 10.
Burnside Bridge Closure
Construction crews will close the Burnside Bridge over the weekend to finish deck joint repairs on the span’s east side, according to Multnomah County officials.
The bridge will close to all users beginning at 11 p.m. Friday. and will not re-open until 5 a.m. Monday.
TriMet bus Nos. 12, 19 and 20 will detour to the Steel Bridge.
Drivers, pedestrians and cyclists can use the Morrison Bridge as an alternate route.
Speed Limit Back To 35 MPH On St. John’s Bridge
The Oregon Department of Transportation on Thursday said it’s re-opened one of the sidewalks on the St. John’s Bridge after a maintenance project shut it down for six weeks.
As a result, ODOT has bumped the speed limit on the bridge back up to 35 mph. It had been reduced to 25 mph during the sidewalk closure.
