Customers, employees say some Oregon businesses aren’t enforcing mask restrictions

When Gov. Kate Brown announced last month that Oregonians would need to wear masks while visiting indoor public spaces, Charles Larson, an associate lead at a PetSmart store in Portland, asked his managers: Will our store enforce this rule?

His managers, Larson said, didn’t think so. In a group chat of employees, his district manager told them they couldn’t ask any customers to put on masks or put up signs asking them to do so.
