An Oregon City man was sentenced last week to 30 days in jail after he was captured on video surveillance breaking into a neighbor’s home and stealing underwear from her bedroom last June.
Ronald Reed Caldcleugh, 68, was convicted in Clackamas County Circuit Court on one count of first-degree burglary and one of third-degree theft. One other count of burglary and one count of third-degree criminal mischief were dismissed.
On June 2, 2018, Caldcleugh found out that his neighbor was out of town. Video surveillance caught him going in and out of the neighbor’s house without permission. When the neighbor returned, she was told that Caldcleugh had entered her home, and she called the police.
Police initially arrested him on one count of criminal trespass, but as they investigated further, the neighbor found that there was underwear missing from her bedroom. Caldcleugh was then charged with burglary and theft.
