Oregon opens as 1.5-point underdog, shifts to favorite, back to underdog against Wisconsin in NCAA Tournament

EUGENE — Oregon opened as an underdog in its opening round game of the NCAA Tournament against Wisconsin, but the spread quickly moved to UO’s favor.

The No. 12 seed Ducks (23-12) opened as 1.5-point underdogs, shifted to 1-point favorites by Sunday night and are back to 1.5-point underdogs as of Tuesday morning for their first-round matchup against the Badgers (23-10) on Friday (approx. 1:30 p.m. PT, TBS) at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif, according to VegasInsider.com.

The over/under of 117 is lowest for any first-round game in this year’s. NCAA Tournament.

Since 2000, No. 5 seeds have lost straight up all three times they weren’t favored against No. 12 seeds and No. 5 seeds have won 65.4 percent of matchups with No. 12s, according to ESPN.

As a favorite, Oregon is 19-6 straight up and 16-9 against the spread this season. As an underdog, the Ducks are 4-6 both straight up and against the spread.

Oregon has has been the favorite in seven of its last eight games, all wins.

It is Oregon’s sixth NCAA Tournament appearance in seven years and 16th overall. The Ducks earned an automatic bid after an winning four games in four days to win the Pac-12 tournament in Las Vegas.
