Oregon’s Troy Dye named to Lott IMPACT trophy watch list

EUGENE — For the second year in a row, Oregon linebacker Troy Dye in on the Lott IMPACT trophy watch list.

Dye is among 42 players, including eight from the Pac-12, on the preseason watch list announced Friday.

The Lott IMPACT trophy is presented annually to college football’s Defensive Player of the Year who best exemplifies integrity, maturity, performance, academics, community and tenacity.

A second-team All-Pac-12 honoree in both 2017 and 2018, Dye has led Oregon in tackles in each of his three seasons. He is one of just two returning FBS players to accomplish that feat and has 313 career tackles and needs 121 tackles to become Oregon’s all-time leader.

Dye enters 2019 with 33 consecutive starts and has led the Ducks in stops 19 times in 37 career games.

The winner will be recognized at the 16th annual Lott Trophy dinner Dec. 15 at The Pacific Club in Newport Beach, Calif.
